I am running the Chicago Marathon and need your help! Just under a year ago, I set out to complete my first marathon. Last summer was filled with long Saturday runs, buying out all the ibuprofen that Walgreens sells, keeping the house stocked with gatorade, almost getting heat stroke, and going through two different pairs of running shoes. In spite, or maybe because of, all that, training for that first marathon was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had to date. More than testing my mental and physical stamina, the best part of the marathon was feeling the support of my friends and family around me. Even though I ran by myself, it was the constant encouragement and cheering from all of you that inspired me. Now, a year later, I'm craving those long runs again and hoping that you all will continue to cheer me on.

This year, I'm hopeful that those cheers and support can be directed towards CASA of Cook County--an organization that provides advocates for children in the court system. From my experiences as a court mediator and in representing children applying for asylum, I know that it can be hard for a child to have their voice heard and interests represented in the court system. CASA looks out for these children and closes the gaps in our court system that leave these vulnerable children behind. It is a vital service in our community that keeps our legal system running as it should and representing those who need it.
